If you had the opportunity to Uber or Lyft in a self-driving car, would you? According to a recent poll by Kelley Blue Book, about 33% of people wouldn’t even consider it.
In Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Uber has employed self-driving cars in order to assess public reaction, and they are being tested in some major cities in California for overall safety and effectiveness.
Even though the safety of the autonomous cars has yet to cause many issues, it’s difficult for many people to give up total control.

Moreover, people are essentially torn between the promise of safety and the need for control: 49 percent said they prefer a safer roadway even if it means they would have less control over their vehicle, while 51 percent said wanted to stay in the driver seat, safer streets be damned.
