Have you seen the hilarious videos online?
A person “riding” (notice the word “riding”, not “driving”) around town in a self-driving car, crouched down so that onlookers can’t see them, and filming the reaction of nearby drivers when they notice that no one is in the driver’s seat.
The reactions of the drivers are quite humorous as well:
We can laugh now, but come on – wouldn’t you be freaked out to if you saw it!
The self-driving car trend has certainly becoming more popular lately now that companies like Google and Tesla are coming out with their own versions.
Even if you’d find it difficult to give control to a car completely, many modern cars already come equipped with “smart car” technology like brake assist, lane assist and even parallel parking assist technology. These features are a big step up from the widely popular rear backup cameras.
It’ll be interesting to see where self-driving car technology takes us in the coming years.
