Synthetic oil is certainly more expensive, but does that mean it’s best for your car?
Conventional oil is made by refining crude oil straight from the ground, whereas synthetic oil is created artificially from various chemical compounds and other substances. Synthetic oil, for this reason, is more expensive. However, the expense does not come without benefits. Synthetic oil proves to last longer between changes than conventional oil. In addition, synthetic oil absorbs heat easier, which translates to better care for a car’s engine.
When deciding on synthetic or conventional oil, consider how often you change your oil and which options your car can handle. For example, many choose to use conventional oil for older vehicles that have used it for years, while newer European vehicles only take synthetic oil.
