It is important to make sure that, when ordering a binder, you take that binder’s projected sheet size into account. “Sheet size” refers to the size of the sheets of paper that will be inserted into the rings of the binder itself.
Make sure that your binder is larger than the sheets of paper being put into it to avoid any unprofessional overhang from the sheets. Not only that, the majority of binders will also have tab dividers or other larger documents inside them also. A quick rule of thumb is to make sure that the largest document or tab has at least 0.5” clearance from the edges of the binder’s cover on all sides. In addition, sheet protectors can skew the binder size needed for your sheets, so this factor also needs to be taken into account while ordering or putting together a binder.
When ordering, be sure to include the largest item (whether tab divider, sheet, or another oversized document) that will be inserted into the binder in order to receive the best binder size for your needs.
