Your residential or commercial air conditioner is made up of numerous parts, all working as one to keep your home at your ideal temperature.
Out of those numerous parts, however, four in particular could be considered vital to a properly working system, and understanding those parts can help when troubleshooting AC problems.
Those parts include:
- Condenser – Inside the outdoor unit, it is responsible for releasing the heat absorbed by your refrigerant during the cooling process.
- Compressor – The compressor is also a part of the outdoor unit and increases the refrigerant’s pressure in order for it to change to a liquid.
- Evaporator – The evaporator is located in the indoor unit and serves to evaporate the liquid refrigerant from the outdoor unit back into a gas where it can absorb heat from the air around it.
- Expansion Valve – The expansion valve lessens the pressure of the refrigerant entering the indoor unit so that it can be easily turned into a gas once inside the evaporator.
