The first snow day is not the time to worry about whether your heater still works or not. Make sure your heating unit is up-to-par before getting snowed in.
Below are some suggestions from Questar Gas to review in order to ensure you’ve done all you can to prep your furnace or heating system for those incredibly chilly days ahead. Here’s a checklist:
- Oil the blower motor and check the belt.
- Change or clean the air filter.
- Check that all vents are unobstructed.
- Check that the exhaust flue to the outside is unobstructed.
- Ensure that the flue is in good condition. Are all connections secured from the furnace to the roof cap?
- Remove all flammable objects from near the heater.
